Simurgh — The Deathless Bird. Foster-Mother of Zal. A radiant, deathless bird of the Alborz peaks who finds an abandoned child in the snow and raises him as her own — wisdom, mercy, and a single feather that calls her across the sky.
Sam — Champion of Persia. Father of Zal. A mighty champion who, ashamed of his white-haired son, casts him out — then crosses the mountains to beg forgiveness and reclaim the boy that fate had blessed.
